Leffler Academy's hybrid nursing prerequisites are perfect for students looking to finish the necessary classes to enroll in nursing school.
Leffler Academy provides science prerequisites, including anatomy, physiology, microbiology, psychology, human growth and development, and other courses, such as quantitative reasoning and english composition.
All of our classes are offered online in an accelerated eight-week format and, when needed, include on-site labs to aid the learning process and strengthen critical thinking skills.

First of a two-course sequence. It is a study of the structure and function of the human body including cells, tissues, and organs of the following systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, and special senses. Emphasis is on interrelationships among systems and regulation of physiological functions involved in maintaining homeostasis.

Corequisites:
Second, in a two-course sequence examining terminology, structure, function, and interdependence of systems within the human body. This course includes a study of circulatory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems. The discussion consists of the application of nutrition, fluid, electrolyte and acid-base balance, and genetics.

This course is a writing-centered course which will emphasize the careful reading, analytical thinking, and persuasive strategies inherent in researching and writing within the academic community. Students will apply rhetorical knowledge while composing literary works in this course. Students will learn how to locate and evaluate primary and secondary sources relevant to their line of questioning.

This course will teach students the modern quantitative techniques across a variety of disciplines. Critical thinking and mathematical. Quantitative literacy is emphasized in this course.

This course will go over the basic principles of microbiology and the impact organisms have on man and the environment. Topics include a variety of microorganisms, their structure, physiology, pathogenicity, infectious diseases, immunology, and selected applications.

Students will learn the characteristics and process of interpersonal communication which include perception, speech and language, nonverbal behaviors, listening and feedback, conflict and resolution, and the development of relationships.

This course is a study of the development of the individual from conception through adulthood. Theories and factual content underlying current thinking and research are examined, as well as the processes and influences affecting the developing person.
The focus is on biological, social, psychological, emotional, and intellectual aspects across the lifespan, and individual application is emphasized.

This course offers the essential elements of nutrition and the chemical reaction involved in the nutritional processes within the body in response to varying foods and the difference in age and disease processes. Therapeutic diets will be discussed along with the changing physiological needs of the client with nutritional deficiencies.

If you intend to continue your nursing education at another institution, we suggest also speaking with your college’s registrar about their transfer credit policies and procedures!
We recommend not taking more than two classes at a time due to the accelerated delivery. With new classes starting 6 times a year, it’s easy to find the right class at the right time and start your nursing career sooner.
